Just a suggestion, add a couple of gussets, triangles to fill the corners of the inside of your angle plate, small enough not to interfere with long pieces in the vice, but long enough to give support to the angle plate. A couple of 1/4-28 cap screws in each side would be enough, just to secure it.
If your milling attachment is a authentic South Bend accessory, you have only to make a adapter to fit the base of the milling attachment to the cross slide of the lathe.
